Part of the island contains giant sugar cane fields, but mostly it is covered with mountains and dense jungle. Recently a giant cave systems was discovered, drawing the attention of scientists and adventure travelers. Dumaguete, the capital of the province Oriental Negros, is a sleepy town with a nice boulevard. Here you can find some nice restaurants, pubs as well as a selection of reasonable priced hotels and pension houses. Diving enthusiasts want to go Apo Island, which contains some of the best diving in the region.
